Amalfi Magic Retreat

Just like a precious gem embedded in stone, this property is one unexpected luxurious spot in a tiny village in Amalfi Coast, a true retreat for those who love to be secluded yet close to all the important locations in the surroundings. Precious materials, solariums, a wooden pizza oven and a cooking station on the terrace compose a property that is born to make its guests happy. Massimiliano and his elegant wife have simply chosen the best furnishing, position and materials and mixed them together for fortunate guests, who will be pampered by a fantastic chef and hundreds of little attentions.

The villa is composed by two areas, the main villa and the annex, called limonaia (lemon house); the first features three double bedrooms with king size beds each with private bathroom, one with a stunning private sun terrace and solarium boasting a breath-taking panoramic view, all of them offering sea view. The limonaia offers a double bedroomed suite for 4 people with private bathroom, making this villa perfect for families.

The property overlooks a garden with ancient olive trees and a unique view of the sea, together with a sea-salt infinity swimming pool which is one of the ten best of the entire Amalfi Coast. The garden surrounding the villa is spread across several terraces facing the sea and it’s planted with old olive trees and maritime pines. Santa Elia Terrace is characterized by aromatic plants useful for cooking, a lemon tree lies on Santo Iaco Terrace, while Santa Barbara Terrace boasts a fantastic swimming pool with infinity edge, surrounded by typical Mediterranean vegetation. The organic garden is located on the Santa Caterina’s terrace.

The property is reached through 80 stairs and it’s not suitable for people with restricted mobility. A porter is available on arrival and departure to help with luggage.

The Amalfi Coast is an ensemble of blue sea, Mediterranean marquis and lemons spreading off terraces, blending with the typical local architecture, typically Mediterranean. It is made of picturesque interlacing of alleys and stairways overlooking the sea, reflecting the enchanting landscape of Amalfi, the town whose name blesses the entire coast. The Amalfi Coast is bordered by Positano (west) and from Vietri sul Mare (east). Positano is a true paradise, developed vertically within a tangled overlay of streets, alleys and shops. Ravello, the most refined village of the ensemble, is dipped in green and characterised by prestigious homes. Minori is a delightful seaside resort that links together the fascination of landscape and sea to the cultural array centred on the archaeological complex of the Villa Romana (Roman Villa). Praiano, on the other hand, is an ancient and tranquil fishing village that offers visitors a very suggestive naturalistic landscape, as well as a rich artisan variety linked to the traditional silk spinning and manufacturing. Ancient trades passed down over the centuries, such as that of the artistic ceramic manufacturing of Vietri Sul Mare, all decorated with the wonderful colours of local products. Visits to the following are an absolute must: Scala, Maiori, Cetara, Conca dei Marini, Corsara, Tramonti and Santo Egidio del Monte Albino, natural beauties and precious historical testimonies in themselves.

Monastero Santa Rosa

Striking the perfect balance of seclusion without solitude, Monastero Santa Rosa allows guests to determine the tone of their stay, whether they’re looking to disappear for an intimate getaway or gather with the group and make new acquaintances. It’s hard to imagine that the generous grounds, filled with four levels of gardens, lush landscaping, plentiful lounge chairs, and canopied daybeds, serve just 20 rooms and suites. Where most boutique properties might only offer in-room massages, Monastero Santa Rosa hosts a fully equipped spa to rival any major city spa, offering not just treatment rooms, but large-scale amenities that include a sauna, steam, mosaic-tiled experience shower, hydro pool, and tepidarium.

Guests are welcome to feel a part of the scene at the library and bar. Engage in a game of chess or cards or read while sipping a martini in the modern cocktail area. Relax down by the pool or discover the resort’s secret gardens, quiet sun decks, and indoor relaxation areas. Get the best of both worlds by making your stay as energizing or relaxed as you wish, by selecting different spaces to suit your mood at any time.

The culinary treats of Santa Rosa are as unique as the monastery itself. The distinguished Executive Chef Christoph Bob has created an innovative Mediterranean gastronomic experience for the most discerning palate with the freshest ingredients from the surrounding Campania region. Christoph has worked in some of the world’s most celebrated restaurants, but amore drew him to the Amalfi Coast and to the Monastero’s prized kitchen. Married to a woman from the Amalfi Coast, Christoph muses, “I not only fell in love with my wife, I fell in love with the destination and its food. Nowhere on earth does the sun and the soil give us such richness of flavours as do the fresh produce, herbs, and seafood found right here on our coast.”

Enter a sanctuary evoking a lost time. The spiritual enchantment of the transformed monastery remains ever present in the luxuriously converted 20 rooms and suites, each named for an herb that the nuns would have used in making their medicines from the Monastero Santa Rosa garden. Vaulted ceilings and the primary structure of the nuns’ rooms and refectory have been preserved and linked together with ensuites to create sumptuous bedrooms, each with a spellbinding sea view stretching from the Conca dei Marini’s fishing harbour below to Amalfi beyond.

A local Neopolitan designer has collaborated with the owner to create an elegant ambiance graced by timeless Italian antiques. Every conceivable lavish amenity and comfort abound. But the focus remains the vistas. From this distinct vantage perch, the dazzling coast and Gulf of Salerno is revealed, framed through windows and balconies facing the sea. Each room still exudes the sense of tranquillity where a nun once stayed—a totally private and intimate retreat bathed in the angelic sunlight of the Amalfi Coast.
